‘Watching them play’

Hi guys

I have been chipping away at several works lately, some of which are for upcoming group shows as well as a new available work at The Little River Gallery.

‘Watching them play’ is a 400mm diameter acrylic piece on panel.

While we were staying with friends in Queenstown a while back my girls absolutely loved searching the sky for all the paragliders. Then recently over Easter, while sitting in the sun with a coffee watching them on the trampoline, I realised that those paragliders were not dissimilar to my two playing their game of ‘who can jump the highest’. Both activities involved adrenaline, trying to stay out of the way of others whilst also peacefully co-existing in the air, exploring new heights, potential danger (and let me tell you that if you think a trampoline is not dangerous then you’ve never endured the wrath of a 6 year old who has grazed her shin on the ladder🤦‍♀️😳) and lastly and most importantly, freedom.

Sitting there watching them play made me feel like I was watching the paragliders. And what a privilege it is to be able to do that, especially with the way many parts of the world currently are. So naturally the wee white moth will cherish her time hanging out on the dahlias, watching the paragliders play.
